PDE Trauma Informed Practices Workgroup
Description:
At the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), we know the needs, gaps, resources, and stakeholders vary from region to region across the commonwealth regarding work happening specific to trauma informed schools and communities.
As a state agency, it is our role to create the conditions within which the field can do its work and to remove barriers, systemic or otherwise, that may be impeding that work. This places a focus on leveraging good work and practice that is already happening, ensuring stakeholder voice is engaged, expanding opportunities to schools and communities that may be underserved in this space, and creating coordination and alignment across systems and regions. As such, PDE announced the creation of the Trauma Informed Practices in Schools Workgroup. The purpose of this workgroup is to bring together cross-sector stakeholders with diverse areas of expertise to inform the development and implementation of best practices across the commonwealth both at the regional and state level specific to addressing trauma in schools. The first workgroup meeting was held in Harrisburg in September and we are currently holding regional meetings throughout Pennsylvania to ensure state-wide representation has informed workgroup decisions. The following list is a schedule for the regional meetings. All meetings will be held from 9-11:30.
The agenda for each of the Regions are available in the links below. RSVPs are not required for any meeting except Region 7 (Pittsburgh). Please feel free to forward information to relevant members of your schools and community. Please contact Dr. Milakovic at damilakovi@pa.gov with questions.
